H Hotel by Hilton, Los Angeles Airport
Visiting Los Angeles for a weekend getaway to watch Bruce Springsteen in Inglewood, made me realize that staying near the airport would be an optimal location.
Usually I’m not a fan of such locations. Airport hotels are usually meh, and they are not always close to interesting things. But LAX is an exception! Because I was only visiting for a few days in this gigantic city, I didn’t want to stray too far away from the airport. Also, with the concert taking place at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, it gave me another reason to stay in that area. Add to that, my desire to go plane spotting on Dockweiler Beach and visit neighborhood breweries, airport hotels became a given.
Picking H Hotel was not a difficult task. As you might have noticed, we tend to skew towards Hilton hotels due to our use of the Amex Hilton Aspire credit card, and its perks. Also, I’m a huge fan of the Curio Collection, which is a chain of mid-range Hilton hotels with an independent streak. Hotels that are in the Curio Collection all feel like independent hotels, even though they are a part of the mega Hilton umbrella.
The room was probably my least favorite thing about this hotel, if anything. No complaints really… the room was clean and the bed was super comfortable, but the it felt a bit depressing. Not sure why, but maybe the drab colors and poor lighting after sundown.
The main reason people stay at this hotel though, is the rooftop. It’s astonishing for anyone wanting a view of the L.A. landscape and Los Angeles Airport. It’s a prime spot for plane spotting!! Each night, I was sharing the roof with a handful of mega lens photographers.
The H Hotel does have a restaurant, and I had a pretty delicious breakfast there. But you might find more memorable breakfasts elsewhere.
Although I didn’t use it, I found it super convenient that there’s a car rental place in the hotel garage…just in case you didn’t get one at the airport and you need a rental for the day or so.
Sharing some more photos of the hotel below, mostly the lobby.
If you need a place close to the airport, this is solid bet! Happy travels!
